THIS ITEM IS-----a great piece of 19th century medical quackery consisting of a brass mechanism that is cranked so that a static charge is built up and delivered through the 2 handles that the afflicted person is suppose to hold or apply to themselves. Retains its original printed label and instructions on the interior of the lid of its mahogany case. Reads Davis & Kidder\'s Patent Magneto Electric Machine, \'FOR NERVOUS DISEASES\'. rare to find the holders with wooden handles, so that the \"doctor\" could hold the wooden part and give the metal part to the patient, there is no date on this object, but dates to the 1850\'s or 1860\'s, awesome, still works, but does not have the wire to connect the handles to the machine, This came from teh Elli Buk sale, google him if you dont know who he was.
