New York: Clark & Maynard, 1853.This is an extremely scarce 1853 edition of Macoy\'s Masonic monitor, bound in wraparound leather folding to completely encase the volume and with tongue and groove to hold the folding case closed. All edges gilt. Richly illustrated. As this edition was published to be carried as a pocket-guide to all significant aspects of Freemasonry, very few of them have survived, making this a scarce item to find intact. This particular specimen remains a well worn yet decent copy in the folding leather with gilt title and designs on the flap, some leather losses along the right side, also some spotting, rubbing and wear to the edges, as shown. Spine leather mostly lacking, but hinges intact. Original signature on front EP by J (ohn) Perky of Eaton Michigan, else unmarked. Records show that this may have been the John Eaton originally of Ohio that served the Union in the Civil War. Complete; pages nicely aged. Measures 3\" x 4.5\". Very rare. Good luck!
