A Nineteenth Century copy of this work on the history of the Holy Virgin and monuments and writings of the Middle Ages.
One of the authors, Joseph-Epiphane Darras (b. Troyes, France, 1825; d. Paris, Nov. 8, 1878) was a Church historian. He completed his classical training and his theological studies in the Petit Seminaire and the Grand Seminaire of Troyes, in the former of which he became a teacher after his ordination to the priesthood, but had to resign apropos of a panegyric on the Bishop of Troyes, Etienne-Antoine de Boulogne (1809–1825), disgraced by Napoleon I, for his firm attitude on the occasion of the assembly of the French bishops in 1811.
CONDITION
Bound in paper. Externally, sound with some marks to wraps; with wear and a little loss to the extremities. Internally, the binding is strained, and failing in places with pages 231-250 detached but still present. The pages are generally bright, with just scattered spotting, and creases to some pages. Overall: GOOD ONLY.
