This Feb. 2, 1862 letter from Charles D. Garlick Co. I 8th Regiment Connecticut Volunteer Infantry on Patriotic Letterhead. Looking out of the hospital window over looking the capitol of Maryland he describes all the wagon trains moving provisions to be loaded on the Fleet in the harbor. \"There is about 400 teams of from 4 to 6 mules each, 4 schooners sent from here to Fortress Monroe loaded with shell and ball for the Fleet.I reckon that it will make the seceshers heads ache when the Yankee boys sets them a flying which I hope we will have a chance to do before long., decribes a large war vessel, three tears of guns and an 84 pounder that is rifled that will wake the Rebels up. There is not any girls here but niggers here and no snow and much less ice. The letter is in nice condition. Shipping includes insurance.
