Offered here is an interesting Civil War document listing the names of fifteen men who had enlisted in the \"Kentish Artillery,\" part of the Rhode Island Militia, for three months. It further states that the men had all served in the 9th Rhode Island Volunteers, a nine-month outfit that served in 1862. It states \"We the undersigned agree to enlist in the volunteer company of the Kentish Artillery for threemonthsservice at Washington...Enlisted by B. Ray Phelon, May 26th, 1862. All of whom served three moths in the 9th Regt & were honorably discharged Sept 2d 1862.\"
The note was written upon a stationery sheet measuring 5\" x 7 3/4\" which has been neatly mounted on a 5 1/4\" x 8\" backing. Very good condition.
