Posted June 30 - \'examined\' and signed by C W B Allison, Commandant. Colonel Charles W B Allison was Camp Commandant June 1862 to Sept 1862, when he was replaced.Sender notes in the lower left \"from a Prisoner of war\". Addressed to Mrs Sarah Long, Ravenswood, Jackson County, Virginia.
Ravenswood likely sent boys off to both the Confederate and the Union armies, being right on the border of Ohio - this though would clearly be from a Confederate soldier.
Camp Commandant Allison was with the 85th Ohio Infantry a this time, with duty being to guard the prison camp. Condition is good. Guaranteed genuine as described. Registered APS Dealer.
