Letter to his sister by S H Harris of 36th Georgia Infantry Regiment Dated July 1, 1862. Harris writes that he is “in tolerable health at this time”….I can tell you I a lonesome place to be after the regiment is gone and just a few sick left to take care of our things till the regiment comes back. I will tell you it made me think a bout home yesterday when I would look around and see that all my friends that I wanted to be with were gone and perhaps to return no more. Ok it made me feel like I would give the last thing I had on earth to be at home. The regiment is about fifteen miles from here….it is reported that there is about ten thousand Yankees in that vicinity.” 4 7/8” X 7 7/8” letter in good condition.
