This July 5th, 1862 Cedar Creek, VA Soldier\'s letter is from Capt. William J. Murphy to his sister in Philadelphia. He is a member of the 109th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers. The envelope is franked my Chaplin J. McMillan of that regt. Both the stationery and envelope have patriotic vignettes. \"Yesterday we had a review of our Divisions here by General Cooper and Staff and the General gave us apretty good speech about the troubles which the country is under at present Our batteries in the neighborhood fired salutes in honor of the day on which the glorious Declaration of Independence was declared, etc. alot of family members mentioned. Both items are in good condition, the letter is written in pencil so is a little light. Shipping includes insurance.
