Item Description:Historical military commission document. Appointment to the rank of lieutenant colonel, hand signed by President Abraham Lincoln and Secretary of war Stanton, dated 1863. With additional hand written notes in the upper margin. Fresh from the estate of a local family with a long history of distinguished military service.
Condition:Good antique condition overall, with expected markers of age including yellowing and wrinkling of the vellum. While there is some fading of the ink, both signatures are still clearly visible. Not examined out of the frame.Please examine all of the detailed photographs carefully and feel free to ask questions prior to placing your offer.
