Description Up for sale we have a report to the Congress of the United States.This report has been disbound and removed from a bound volume of these reports for individual sale.
This report is as follows: “Prize Matters. Letter of the Secretary of the Navy (Gideon Welles), in answer to, Resolution of the House of Representatives of the 19th December last, in reference to prize matters”. Dated February 19, 1863. 128 pages. Measures 9\" tall by 5-5/8\" wide.
Report by location of the net proceeds realized on the liquidation of ships and cargos captured by privateers to determine distribution of “prizes”. Many of the ships captured were Confederate “blockade runners” from England.

Report is in good condition showing usage wear and the pages show age discoloration. Pages are still pretty well attached despite removal from bound volume.
