VERY SCARCE, EARLY ANTIQUE 1867 RELIGIOUSTHEMED CURRIER & IVES PRINT, “JESUS BLESSING LITTLE CHILDREN”, IN ORIGINAL PERIOD FRAME!!!

DESCRIPTION:Scans show it all.....original large print DATED 1867. At the bottom printed “Published by Currier & Ives”, with the Nassau St. address, etc.

THIS IS PARTICULARLY SCARCE AS IT HAS A RELIGIOUS THEME, which was a limited market at that time. Below the title is a detailed scripture describing the scene. \"JESUS BLESSING LITTLE CHILDREN (but Jesus said Suffer little children and foroffer them not to come unto me for of such is the kingdom of heaven. St. Mat XIX.14)\".

It is STILL IN THE ORIGINAL PERIOD WOODENFRAME with the original wood backing and original glass. Overall framed size is approximately 12 1/2\" x 16\". Print itself (open area) measures 11 1/2\" x 15\".

GREAT DETAIL ON ALL THE FIGURES, AND LOTS OF ACTION PORTRAYED!!! Interesting expressions on everyone\'s faces. Jesus is holding a child and has his hand on another. Nice halo on him. ALL FIGURES ARE DRAWN VERY WELL.

Has great eye appeal to decorateany period wall or collection display of early prints or antique religiousitems.

In very good condition overall. Sorry for the unavoidable glare and reflection off the glass in some of the pictures. SLIGHT water stain in lower right hand margin, but DOES NOT affect print area

A very nice period pose and VERYSCARCE SUBJECT MATTER FOR THE TIME !!! I have never seen one like this, especially so early. Scenes are much scarcer and desirable than single people. THIS IS 149 YEARS OLD !!! A very early religious themed print.
