Very rare and very beautiful, 1870\'s Native American Sioux Indian Bead Decorated Buffalo Hide Knife Sheath and original trade skinning Knife. This outstanding 19th century Sioux Beaded Sheath measures approx. 10\" long and 3\" at its widest. The Knife is of the same period and measures approx 14\" long overall with an 9\" blade

This wonderful Sioux Indian Sheath is sinew sewn by hand with beadwork decoration featuring red white-heart, light blue, dark blue, greasy yellow and pea green colored beads. There is a horizontal row of tin cones and beaded drop that are original and very well preserved. The Sheath retains its original hide hanger at the top.

The large Trade Knife features a wooden handle that retains its original and age appropriate patina as well as a blade that shows signs of sharpening over the years but no significant damage or wear. It appears that the Kinife is original to the Sheath as it fits snugly and firmly into the Sheath.

The Knife is also in very good condition - showing age appropriate wear from extended use but with no significant damage. The blade does show signs of having been sharpened over the years and both the handle and blade are sound and well preserved.
