An impressive antique Russian silver Torah Pointer(yad - the Hebrew word for \'hand\'). The yad has a plain cylindrical taperingform Rabbi figure on the top and a decorated body with twisted rope. AStar of David terminates with an impressive hand with its ringed index fingerpointed.

It bears a small turquoisegem. The pointerusually hangs on a chain from the Torah staves.

The yad is fully hallmarked; dated 1873 (the datehas a bit of wear) and marked 84 zolotniki - 875/1000, Russian symbols forsilver, a double headed eagle - town mark for Moscow, assay\'s master VS (BCin Cyrillic) - Viktor Savinkov and maker\'s mark NA inCyrillic, could be Nikolai Alekseev.
