The journal is undated but appears to be from the 1870s/1880s but no later than the 1890s by any means. Front blank fly page has signature of \"Mamie Powell\" who appears to be the one who compiled this book of poetry. A wonderful collection of 19th century poems penned in fabulous calligraphic black ink script. Many of the pieces have names at the end such as Susy H. Hooper and Lord Lytton. Nearly 200 pages of content all entirely filled out complete with a table of contents in the beginning listing the names of 16 poems within the tome! The journal contains a total of 20 pieces with 16 being listed in the index and 4 additional ones within the text! The Poems are listed as:Poor House Man (temperance song),

Hardcover; handsome green and black marbled wrapped boards; moderate wear; boards loose but attached; binding exhibits light play but all pages are still firmly secure with the exception of the first page with the author\'s name which is detached but present. The spine is missing and only the fabric and webbing tape is left; webbing tape holding boards although would benefit from some further repair.
