Tonight\'s sale is for a very desirable piece struck for the 1884-1885 Mardis Gras and World\'s Cotton & Industrial Exposition. The medals issued for this affair are surprisingly difficult to obtain. This large piece does have shiny Proof-like surfaces but there definitely are contact marks galore. Notice the aquamarine colors on the medal. This stuff can be removed with a mild solvent. I have seen it done and done it myself, but I don\'t tamper with surfaces of my medals, so you can do it yourself or pay to have it done by a professional.This is definitely worth preserving, likely by having it professionally graded, which I will do if this does not sell.These are COOL medals, and remember official Mardis Gras doubloons from this fair were issued along with this medal and a few others. All are super desirable.
