My photos show the exact item that you are getting. ~ This would have been Frank Seymour Scudder, a minister, educator and author, who published \"RUTGERS SONGS\" (among other things). ~ The letter\'s content is a short thank you to Stephen Henry Thayer, for a book of poetry as a Christmas gift. ~ This ALS has paper toning, faint folds, and a bit of backside scrapbook remnant.

To establish PROVENANCE : this handwritten letter was carefully removed from the PERSONAL SCRAPBOOK of Stephen Henry Thayer (1839 - 1919) who was a Wall Street banker, author, poet, and literary editor in the late-1800s. ~ Mr. Thayer\'s estate home of \"Edgewood\", on the Hudson River, at Sleepy Hollow, Tarryton New York was where he found his chief delight in his literary work. Here he wrote \"Songs of Sleepy Hollow\", \"Songs from Edgewood\", \"The Legend of Spook Rock\", a novel \"Daughters of the Revolution\", and many other fine works of sonnets, prose, hymns, essays, and poems, which were published in popular magazines and reviews, of the late 1800s. Also, several of his literary works and collections were published as hardcover books, by G.P. Putman & Sons, New York.
