A scarce edition of Poems of Thomas Grayin Riviere binding with decorative pieces throughout. With an author\'s portrait to the frontispiece and further black and white illustrations throughout.

An Eton presentation copy with a decorative presentation pagebound in Latin signed to an Eton studentdated 1887.

Thomas Gray (1716- 1771) was a poet, letter-writer, classical scholar and professor at Cambridge University. Gray was also an alumni of Eton College, where he attended from 1725.

With an introductory essay \'Mr. Thomas Gray\', by his friend from his Eton days, the Hon. Horace Walpole to front.

CONDITION

In an armorial calf binding. Externally, generally smart but with slight wear to extremities and occasionalmarks to boards. Internally, generallyfirmly bound although strained in places with the odd page starting. Bright but with occasional slight foxingand with slight offsetting from frontispiece to title.
