DESCRIPTION
Thomas Ingoldsby was the pen name of English cleric Richard Harris Barham (1788-1845). As well as being an English cleric of the Church of English, Barham was a novelist and humourous poet.
The Ingoldsby Legends are a series of tales (most of them metrical, some in prose), and became very popular upon their original publication in the magazine Bentley\'s Miscellany.
Illustrated with a frontispiece and 19 plates.
CONDITION
In a morocco binding with gilt detailing. Externally, sound with some very light rubbing and fading to spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean. Pencil inscription to front free endpaper dated 1895. Newspaper clipping pasted to front free endpaper.
