A uniformly bound collection of Henry Kingsley\'s Works, with illustrations to frontispiece.

Eight volumes of a twelve volume set.

Illustrations are by various artists including Walter Paget, Lancelot Speed, Herbert Railton, R. Caton Woodville, Holland Tringham, George M. Henton.

Some volumes contain further illustrations integrated with text.

With A Note on Old Chelsea Church of to one volume and a note on Henry Kingsley to another by Clement Shorter.

Works included are: Ravenshoe; Geoffry Hamlyn; Austin Elliot and the Harveys: A Story of Two Families; The Hillyars and the Burtons; Silcote of Silcotes; ValentinandNumber Seventeen; Mademoiselle Mathilde; and Stretton.

Henry Kingsley (1830 - 1876) was an English novelist, brother of the better-known Charles Kingsley. He was an early exponent of Muscular Christianity in his 1859 work The Recollections Of Geoffrey Hamlyn.

CONDITION

Uniformly bound in cloth. Externally, generally smart but with wear to extremities, rubbing, marks and occasional stainsto boards and slight cocking to spines. Internally, generally firmly bound although slightly strained in places. Bright but with foxing to endpapers, spotting to text block edges and handling marks in places.
