Rare and very attractive, 1896 William McKinley Figural Head Cane/ Walking Stick. This outstanding cane measures approximately 33\" long and features a handle in the form of a full figured, metal bust of Republican Presidential Candidate William McKinley. The 3 1/4\" tall, bust form, knob is attached to black surface, wooden cane shaft. There is spread wing eagle beneath the bust on the collar of the knob which grasps a ribbon banner device that has text that reads \"Protection / 1896\". We have owned a number of McKinley \"Bust Knob\" Canes over the years, but the example offered here is of a design we have never come across before. It also carries a mark which reads \"Reg\'n Apl\'d For\".

This outstanding William McKinley, Bust Knob Campaign Cane is in very good condition. There is a tiny dent on the tip of McKinley\'s nose but otherwise the knob has very minimal wear and is very well preserved. The shaft is attractive and the surface well preserved but the Cane lacks a ferule (if it ever had one).
