Offered here is a highly collectible 1896 Political Campaign pin back button in near perfect very good to excellent condition!I don\'t know that much about this campaign, but have read the following in doing my research:In the 1896 election, Democrat, William Jennings Bryan took a stand against the gold standard & argued for free coinage of silver at a ratio of 16 to 1. Republican William McKinley, was for the gold standard.The pin is about 7/8 inches in diameter.
I believe this to be very old and authentic, but have no way to authenticate it. I know this was well kept in my family for many years. The front of the pin with blue background & silver tone bug and writing are very good to excellent condition, saying 16 to 1 No Compromise. The back of pin interior is very readable and very good condition but the metal silver tone area around the perimeter is age appropriately worn off.I do not see any rust and the back inside is easily readable and says:Schuma & Co108 Fulton St, New YorkW. & H. Co PatentsJuly 17, 1894April 14, 1896July 21, 1896Sadly, my camera doesn\'t do a good job of getting good close ups so the photos are somewhat blurry...best I can do..sorry.If you admire political campaign buttons, you\'ll be well pleased with this one.Please ask any questions prior to offerding.
