Nice 18th Century Wrought Iron \"Betty Lamp Spike\" With Great Curled Designs! Listing

Certain to look great on the interior of a Colonial Era home or Decorum, this piece is all hand wrought, blacksmith made with nice early construction! Almost identical to those illustrated in \"Early American Antique Country Furnishings\" by G. Nueman.

Pieces such as this were hammered into the mortar walls and wooden beams of early homes to serve as a support hook for various lighting devices, be it tin lanterns, whale-oil or grease burning betty (fat) lamps.

One nice feature of this specific piece is the fact the blacksmith worked in a lovely pattern that features a center heart shaped decoration with off flanking curls.

There is some remains of silver colored paint to the surface of the piece coated at some point long after it\'s original construction.  This should be able to clean off easily with a soft wire brush if one chooses to.

Measures 7\" in overall length.

A line break to the very tip of the hanging hook has the very tip folder over;  just noticed now on description of the piece. Does not deter from the piece, looks to just be the result of some wear from long ago.

Take a moment to click each image for supersized enlargements!

You can see the great period construction.  Some slight pitting and blackening from its age, though overall a very godo example that would look great complimenting any period piece of lighting, or just on its own as a piece of early metalware.

Offered for FIVE days with .

We periodically include free shipping with lighter items; this piece has FREE (domestic) shipping.
