For your consideration is an 18th century ladderback armchair circa 1740-1760 from Portsmouth New Hampshire. The chair retains an old finish with traces of original brown paint and red wash. Take note of the Queen Anne finials and thick stock as well as the exceptional curvature to the arms. This is a strong chair with slightly graduated back splats and elephant trunk arms.
