Born Dec. 18, 1844 in Switzerland. Heenlisted in the Confederate Army when he was 17 years old in Gentry County,Missouri under General Sterling Price. As a member of the Confederate Army andof the Missouri State Guard, he participated in the battles of Wilson Creek,Blue Mills, Lexington, Carthage, Pea Ridge, Shiloh, Corinth and Independence.He served seventeen days without rest as dispatch bearer for General Pricefollowing the battle of Pea Ridge. Later he was made a Brigadier General. Hewas wounded several times and served under Quantrell, the guerilla leader ofWestern Missouri.

War Service March 1861 2nd Lt. ofartillery, Fort Sumter, duty in Florida, Capt., Shiloh, Murfreesboro, Maj.,commanded a battalion at Chickamauga, Lt. Col. in charge of Wheeler\'sartillery, Atlanta campaign, July 1864 Brig. Gen. in command of a cavalry division(not confirmed by senate), Buck Head Creek (w), retired from active fieldcommand. After the war worked as a lawyer. He holds the distinction of beingthe LAST surviving Confederate general.

Born in Henderson, KY on Feb. 8,1834 Died Oct. 20, 1922 in Texas. Prior to the War he was an Indianfighter and provided supplies for the Butterfield Overland Mail stations.During the War he participated in Morgan’s Raid and was later blinded in anaccident. He was promoted to Brigadier General and went on to found MarbleHills, Texas and accomplish many great things as a businessman.

Brig.Gen. Arthur Pendleton Bagby

The son of Alabama Senator andGovernor Arthur Pendleton Bagby, he graduated from the United States MilitaryAcademy at West Point in 1852. After brief service in New York and Texas, heresigned from the army in 1853 to study and practice law. At the beginning ofthe Civil War, he was appointed Major of the 7th Texas Mounted Volunteers androse to full Colonel in that unit by November of 1862. He participated in theBattles of Galveston, Berwick Bay, Fordoche, Bayou Bourbeau, Mansfield, andPleasant Hill. His service in New Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana led to hisassignment as Brigadier General by General Edmund Kirby-Smith in April of 1864.

Brig.Gen. Wilburn Hill King

Born on June 9, 1839 in Georgia.Served as a Private, Major, Colonel and eventually Brigadier General for theCSA in Co. B, 18th Texas Infantry. He was severely wounded at theBattle of Mansfield. He went on to serve two terms in the Texas House and lateradjutant general for the state of Texas. King died in Sulphur Springs, Texas onOctober 12, 1910.

Brig.Gen. William R. Boggs

(1829-1911) Boggs graduated fromWest Point in 1853 and served in the Corps of Topographical Engineers. Hejoined the Confederate Corps of Engineers and became part of General BraxtonBragg\'s staff and commanded all engineers and artillery in Pensacola, Florida.In 1862, he was appointed the chief engineer of the state of Georgia. He waspromoted to brigadier general and served as General E. Kirby Smith\'s chief ofstaff in the Trans-Mississippi Department until the end of the war. After thewar, he was a civil engineer and a professor at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.He died on September 15, 1911 at the age of 82.

ColonelRisden Tyler Bennett

Born in Wadesboro, North Carolina,Bennett attended common schools and then Cumberland University. He studied lawin Tennessee before enlisting in the Confederate Army in 1861. During the war,he rose to the rank of colonel and was wounded three times, including at theBattle of Gettysburg in July 1863. He served in the brigade of Stephen D.Ramseur during the 1864 Overland Campaign. Following the war, Bennett was thesolicitor of Anson County, North Carolina, in 1866 and 1867. He was elected tothe North Carolina House of Representatives, serving from 1872 to 1874. Adelegate to the 1875 state constitutional convention, he was named to the statesuperior court in 1880, serving for two year until his election to Congress. In1882, he was elected to the 48th United States Congress, and re-elected in 1884to a second term. During the 49th Congress, he chaired the Committee onExpenditures in the Department of State. After leaving Congress, Bennettpracticed law in Wadesboro, North Carolina, where he died in 1913 and isburied.

ColonelIsaiah George Washington Steedman

He served during the Civil War asColonel and commander of the 1st Alabama Infantry regiment. He was captured atIsland #10 and shuttled through ten POW camps before his release in 1865.Colonel Steedman also commanded the 1st Alabama Infantry Regiment and the leftwing of the Confederate defenses during the 48 day siege at Port Hudson,Louisiana. After the war he practiced medicine. He died at the age of 81 in St.Louis, Missouri on May 15, 1917. Cause of death was cirrhosis of liver.
