I was going through some old papers and post cards and stumbled on to this interesting one. 1908 real photo post card post marked November 12th 1908 from West Fairlee Vermont. Is addressed to Miss Helena G Leet in Bradford Vermont. Text of the message reads: \"Do you have any recollection of this place. Tell Alice that (?) brother shot a deer today. lots of love W. H. Taft pres elect.\" I can\'t be 100% sure that this was actually sent by President Elect Taft, but why would someone forge his name 9 days after he was elected President? I\'ve tried to research best as possible and the date would make sense, as he returned to the family homestead after the election, which is in Townshend Vermont. As far as Ms. Leet, she married Walter Ware and the Ware family had a farm and were acquaintances of the Taft family. As far as Alice, mentioned in the text, I have no clue other than he was friends of the Roosevelt family, and Alice Roosevelt. As far as the signature, it doesn\'t look 100% like ones I\'ve found on the internet of papers he signed as President, but their are similarities in the penmanship. I\'m hoping a viewer out there can identify the scene on the post card and any connection they may know of with Taft and the Leet/Ware families, and I will add to my description. With all that being said, as I can\'t be positive this is in fact signed by Taft (but I tend to believe it is genuine), I will sell without reserve and you be the judge. Hopefully a viewer can help me out with any new information. Good luck offerding on what appears to be a real neat find!
