1909 CHARLES HORNER SOLID SILVER THIMBLE, HALLMARKED CHESTER - Polygon rim:

DESCRIPTION

This is a good-looking, antique solid silver thimble by Charles Hornerof Northgate, Halifax. It features a traditional punched dot / honeycombpattern to the top with a diamond pattern to the upper part of the shaft and aslightly indented band below. This is followed by a band consisting of 12panels which alternate between being undecorated and engraved with a pretty floraldesign. It is recorded as being Horner’s Design 586 or ‘Polygon Rim’.

The maker’s mark and hallmarks are struck in the diamond area of theshaft which makes them a little difficult to read. The CH, Lion Passant, and Wheatsheaves (Chesterassay mark) are reasonably legible but the date letter less so – nonetheless,my best guess is that it is I for 1909.The size is 7.
