There is a photograph, or a line-drawing, or Buddhist artwork, on fullytwo-thirds of the pages in the book.

The Binding is contemporary or perhaps slightly laterhalf-cloth, with the title on the spine in Cyrillic language.

An ink stamp has been erased, with minor scuffing, on the lowerportion of the title page.

There are remains of a small, unobtrusive round purple inkstamp ( .75 inch = 2 cms ) on Pages 33, 101, 201, 301, 401, and 471.

The book’s front and rear inner hinges are intact andstrong, as the book has a sewn binding.

This is an amazingly well-preserved, clean and fresh copy ofperhaps the rarest early book on Tibet. No foxing.

A Buddhist Pilgrim atthe Sacred Places of Tibet contains MANY of the OLDEST PHOTOGRAPHS of themost important Tibetan religious and pilgrimage sites such as Lhasa’s Potala Palaceand Jokang Temples, and the large monasteries outside Lhasa, Sera, Ganden, andDrepung Monsteries, plus Samye Monastery, photographed in theirsplendor at the start of the 20th Century and reproduced in wonderful FullPlate images.

Additionally, there is a magnificent collection of portraitsof Tibet’s Buddhist Saints and religious leaders, and artistic Line Drawingsof the Dalai Lamas.

Considering that A Buddhist Pilgrim at the Sacred Places of Tibet was published in Russia nearly a century ago, the book’s quality is truly remarkable.

The diversity of the Artwork, the many Photographs ofBuddhist Statuary and religious frescos, the high-detailed line drawings, andthe smaller photographs of items of daily religious and household use – even Tibet’scoinage – is monumental, numbering a total of over 260 combined photographs, line-drawings, historical illustrations, and photographed works of Buddhist Art, Religious Statuary, and Frescoes.

A Buddhist Pilgrim atthe Sacred Places is one of the rarest of the earliest books on Tibet, there being no physical copy of the book to be located in the West, either inEurope or America.

Thank you.
