Description

A beautiful, large scarf in shades of orange red and chartreuse green depicting a Mardi Gras or festival with dancing figures on stage and audiences hanging over a balcony - most wearing costumes and masks. There are two large and several small images on the scarf. The scarf is 32 1/2\" x 34\" with a slightly rounded, hand stitched edge. It has a red border all around, and then a thin white border, and then a ground of chartreuse in which small and large vignettes, also finely outlined in white, are placed seemingly at random. The scarf has a label, Vanette Creations All Silk, and probably dates to the 1920s or 1930s. Early Vanette silk scarves were made in France, and the subject material is very French and characteristic of the 1920s. There are no major condition issues with the scarf, but it is a vintage item that is at least 85 years old, and there are bound to be some minor signs of wear consistent with age, including but not limited to a few tiny pinholes. The scarf has not been cleaned, and would benefit from dry cleaning as there are a couple of small marks on one edge. Another beautiful French accessory , only from Antiquarius Antiques. If you are looking for new and perfect, then vintage is probably not for you. In many cases,vintage clothing has been worn and is no longer new, and that is why it is such a good bargain. Excellent antique or vintage condition rarely means new - do not expect new or perfect as there will almost always be some signs of wear, especially with older items. Sometimes we sell newer vintage items that are new old stock (NOS) so they have never been worn and can be in such excellent condition that there are no signs of wear. But some of the garments we sell are 75 years old or more, and even if they were never worn, the fabric may show signs of wear just from being stored all those years. Please assume that older vintage and antique items may have a little dust and/or a few age spots, unless we have specifically stated that we have recently laundered the item. Nevertheless, vintage is a great way to dress extravagantly without having an extravagant budget. You can often find extraordinary examples of antique, vintage or designer items that are wearable textile art and will make you look like a million bucks!

We accept only Paypal. We expect payment on completion of the sale. We would be happy to hold items for up to 2 weeks to combine shipping. However, we appreciate payment at the end of each sale and you must contact us immediately about the possibility of combining shipping as we ship paid items very promptly.

Canadian buyers must pay NS HST of 15% on the Canadian dollar amount of the sale and shipping and handling.

Shipping

We ship by Canada Post. We estimate shipping for each hat based on the Canada Post calculator with information about a box size in which the hat will fit and estimated weight of the hat and packaging. It costs different amounts to ship to different destinations. has used the Canada post calculator and our information on estimated box size and weight for shipping costs. The estimated shipping costs are for Canada and the USA only. Shipping costs are significantly more for international destinations so international buyers please check with us about shipping costs before offerding.

We charge only what the post office charges us to ship. We do not charge handling and packaging fees. If the shipping costs estimated are more than what it actually costs to ship, we will refund the difference. If the shipping costs are more than what was estimated, we will advise before shipping. If you find the shipping costs to be too high, please do not offer or buy and then leave less than 5 stars on response - we have no control over the postal rates.

For international customers, we will not ship items marked as a gift. Customs, duties, brokerage fees can be considerable depending on the item, so please check with your local customs office to determine these charges before offerding. Customs, duty and international brokerage fees are not part of the shipping costs and they are the buyers responsibility. We have no control over delays at customs, and because of this can only estimate delivery times to international buyers based on an assumption that there will be no delays at customs.
