ITEM: You are offerding on an antique original 1920s tin litho Canco Beautebox. This features artwork by Henry Clive of the sexy silent film star Mae Murray, the girl with the bee stung lips, envisioned as a jazz age Santa Claus with sack of art deco toys, and sassy flapper attitude. Henry Clive is one of our favorite illustrators, he made his way to American in the early 1900s from Australia making a living as a slight of hand magician in Vaudeville shows. He briefly made a living as a Hollywood film star in early silent films before he transformed himself into an artist and illustrator in about 1918. He worked for the Paramount Film Studio doing posters and illustrations for their exhibit books. He also created a series of portrait tins for the Canco company featuring silent film stars that were given away at the opulent movie houses of the 1920s.This tin measures 10\" across and stands 2 1/2\" tall. 100% guaranteed vintage and original and as always sells !
