Both books are in good condition: the covers have some edge/corner wear; the corners of the text block have some wear to the gilt; the pages are clean and unmarked, but do have minor age related tanning.
Volume I: the verso of Mackey\'s portrait has a couple light stains; page 24 has darker tanning; the spine is cracked at pages 330/331 (see photo 9).
Volume II: the verso of Hughan\'s portrait has some smudges; pages 770 & 771 have areas of darker tanning (see photo 12); the spine is cracked at pages 672/673.
