1928 VICTROLA RADIOLA RADIO TALKING MACHINE VE 7-11X

The Victor Victrola VE 7-11X was a combination all-electric radio/phonograph, introduced in 1928. It featured an RCA-produced Radiola model18 radio and an electric-powered Victrola 78 rpm phonograph, and came in either mahogany (shown here) or walnut, with gold plated hardware,at aprice of $285.00. All of the VE7-11Xs were manufactured in 1928, but dealers continued to be sell them through early 1929. It has overall cabinet dimensions of 54”H x 28\"W x 17\"D, with total weight of about 110 pounds. It was recently acquired as part of a large collection from the estate of a lifetime tube radio technician, and had been owned by his wife\'s parents since new.

All tubes arepresent and wiring looks good; when powered up, the tubes lit up nicely and the radio made some static noise, but the station tuner knob would not rotate freely and was left alone. It stayed cool and no smells issued forth. When switched to phono mode, the platter turned. Beyond that, due to age and the fact that it had not been used for many years, this unit is otherwise untested and sold entirely as is with noguarantees or assurance of future performance. It looks to be entirely original (knobs, paper labels, grill cloth, hardware, etc) except for the speaker which looks like a smaller replacement than theoriginal would have been (see picture).

Thismodel is quite rare and in remarkable unrestored condition, and will be a prizedaddition to any collection. It is available for free pickup in Seattle within 3months of purchase, although I will happily work with any shipper that buyer contracts with forsafe packing and transport of this item.
