1929 JEWISH ROWING SPORT CLUB HELVETIA GERMAN BERLIN BRONZE TROPHY AWARD

1929 Berlin Jewish RowingSport Club Helvetia Bronze Trophy Award in Art Deco Style for Young Man. The trophyis made of Bronze, in Art Deco style, with marble base which appears to behollow and around 22.5 cm\' (8.85 Inch) high from top to bottom, heavy at 585gr\' in weight.

The Jewish museum ofBerlin has three items in its collection of this club, seeHERE (Search for \"helvetia\"in the museum site in this link). Two are Flags of the club and the third is ametal plaque on wood with similar caption to the statue of this sale, dated1934. No trophy award of the club found there. Also, I couldn\'t find similar trophyof the club at any other site.

In terms of condition thetrophy has some typical age wear, but overall in good condition for its age andcan be displayed beautifully as can see in the pictures.

Important and historical itemof the Jewish sport history and German Jews prior to the holocaust.

Part of theJewish sport movement, the rowing clubHelvetia was a Jewish rowing sport club inBerlin (Germany) prier to WWII. The Rise of the Nazis to power and the fear ofthem led members of this club to flee from Germany to Palestine (Today Israel)and they donated their boat, the BRC, which mentioned in this awardpriorto their escape. After arriving to Palestine, Members of this club imported thesport of rowing to British Mandated Palestine and founded the first rowingclubs in the holy land, one in Haifa and the other in Tel Aviv.
