This is a wonderful older vase of intricately carved Asian stone in a marbleized gray color. These types of Asian carvings date back to at least the 1930\'s. This vase is exceptionally well made and features a dragon, and other sea life and growth. It presents in very good condition with just one minor flaw. There is a very small chip under the lip in the back of the piece, which honestly, is not visible at all, unless you are looking for it (photo 6). I don\'t consider this serious or troublesome in any way. Aside from this, the piece is absolutely perfect, and truly looks great. There is delicate etching on the vase, and on the body of the dragon to illustrate the scales on his skin. The backside of the stone is smooth and not carved. At the top of the stone, the vase opening is 2 and 3/4 in long. It stands 6 and 3/4 in tall, and 6 and 1/2 in wide at the widest point. The weight is 2 and a 1/2 pounds. This is a fabulous piece which was painstakingly crafted to perfection. The artist was immensely successful in bringing its subject to life. Carved dragons tend to be very collectable, and this piece is no exception. I imagine collectors and enthusiasts would love to own a carving such as this one.
