The NRA was a New Deal program established by Congress in 1933 to bring industry, labor and government together with the objective of writing codes of \"fair practices\" and to set prices. The codes were intended to reduce \"destructive competition\" and to help workers by setting minimum wages and maximum weekly hours, as well as minimum prices at which products could be sold. The NRA was symbolized by the Blue Eagle and was popular with workers. Businesses that supported the NRA put posters such as this in their shop windows and on their packages. Though membership to the NRA was voluntary, businesses that did not display the eagle were very often boycotted. In 1935, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously declared that the NRA law was unconstitutional as a violation of the separation of powers under the U.S. Constitution. The NRA quickly stopped operations, but many of its labor provisions reappeared in the National Labor Relations Act (i.e., Wagner Act) passed after the court decision. The long-term result was a surge in the growth and power of labor unions, which became a core of the New Deal Coalition that dominates national politics even today.
The poster has a few dings, benttop left corner, small tear ontop side, and stains as pictured. but is good and visually attractive.
