This is an original press photo. The date is Oct 17 1914, the first World War is less than three months old, and even at that early date in the proceedings the opinion is prevalent, that the British fleet is in command of the situation at sea. On this date however, the Germans made a test of the Naval situation and lost four of their destroyers. In a battle off the Dutch coast. The fleet German craft felt the might and power of British Naval armaments and were sent to the bottom. This is an actual eye witness view of the naval engagement described. Photo measures 8.5 x 6.75inches. Photo is dated 10-10-1939.
