This is a White Dot Sheaffer Triumph Lifetime Crest Deluxe Fountain Pen from the late 1940\'s in Black. The model was introduced in 1937 and was simply referred to as the Model 47, later renamed Crest. From its inception until 1942 it had an open nib. The Triumph nib was added to the Sheaffer line in 1942. I found this exact pen in a reference book I use and it was dated 1949. The earlier Crest models shown in this book were thinner, so perhaps the \'Deluxe\' referred to a thicker design such as this one introduced in the late 1940\'s.

This is a medium/thick pen in girth. Imprinted on the barrel is: \'W.A. SHEAFFER PEN CO. / FORT MADISON, IA. U.S.A. / MADE IN U.S.A.\' Over-all length capped it right at 5 1/4 inches. With the cap posted it is just shy of 6 inches. This one is a Lever-Filler. This pen was disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned and a new large ink sac was installed.

Sheaffer makes a gorgeous high quality pen and the Two-Tone 14K Triumph nibs are just stunning. Unfortunately for me, they tend to be quite stiff so this pen is off to find a new owner who can really appreciate it. Old Sheaffer catalogs show that Sheaffer made a few flexible nibs, but I have yet to see one, but the \'FS5\' nib is on my wish list.

The two-tone Triumph Lifetime nib on this Sheaffer was made in the U.S.A. and is 14K Solid Gold. I\'d judge it to be about a \'F\' point and quite stiff. It has a few light scratches, typical of old fountain pens, but you\'ll need a 10X loupe to see them. In addition, I really like the heart shaped hole in the nib. The Palladium mask has not worn through at all.

The condition of this pen is excellent. No brassing on the cap, clip or filling lever - quite impressive. The clip is nice and tight on the cap, not loose at all. I can see a couple very tiny \'dents\' on the end of the cap. I tried taking some pictures of them, but it is really hard to get the lighting just right to get them to show up. On the very edge of the cap is imprinted \'1/10 14K GOLD FILLED - MADE IN U.S.A.\' The barrel is really clean, just the usual normal use scratches and no bite marks. The White Dot is on the vey tip of the barrel. It is in excellent condition.
