This is a wonderful tea set comprised of a teapot with lid, cream pitcher, and sugar bowl. It is made by Booths English China/Pottery in the Real Old Willow blue and white pattern with gold trim. This pattern is recognized by the number #A8025, as all the pieces are clearly marked with the makers official stamp. For over one hundred years, the company has been producing this pattern. It is the most highly prized of all Booths Willow products. The pattern was made with gold trim and without the gold trim; the gold trim being the preferred, more highly collectable version. The set dates back to 1944 through 1981 as can be identified by the underside markings. In 1944 the company began their numbered identification system with the letter A in front of the numerals. Later, post 1981, they altered their numbered marking system. That is how we can be assured that this particular set is dated between 1944 and 1981. At this point of the company history the Booths factory closed, and the Royal Doulton company took over the production of the Real Old Willow pattern. They, in turn, stopped producing it in 1999; when it was officially retired. The teapot with the lid stands 7 and a 1/2 in tall, and measures 8 and a 1/2 in from handle to spout. The sugar bowl is 1 and 3/4 in high, with a 2 and 3/4 in top opening; and the cream pitcher is 3 in high at the tallest point. In total, all the pieces weigh 1 and a 1/2 pounds combined. This is a special set which has all the right elements to portray perfection. The beautiful yet traditionally classic design makes for a wonderful display, and will no doubt add a lovely accent to any formal dining table. Although the pieces can be found to purchase separately, it is quite rare that you find a complete set, especially in mint condition.
