Original SHAEF WWII
US Army Allied Expeditionary Force
D-Day Letter Leaflet
From General Eisenhower
WW2
Greatoriginal letter/leaflet delivered toall WWII troops BEFORE the D-Day Invasion on June 6, 1944. Own a rare piece ofhistory since although tens of thousands of these were distributed, relativelyfew of these survived. These often are folded, soiled, & torn due to thembeing carried by invasion troops. Therougher condition of this one is even more special to me in that you canimagine it being carried through Europe in difficult situations—if only the documentcould speak!
GeneralDwight D. Eisenhower distributed these to all members of the AlliedExpeditionary Force prior to the D-Day Normandy Invasion and Normandy SpearheadDrive through France. This is an original WWII printed documentand is not a photocopy or reproduction.Original SHAEF single-sidedprinted document from 1944; measures approximately 6” x 9” (approx. 15cm x23cm). Condition - This D-Day leaflet exhibits significant overall wear with NUMEROUS wrinkles, dirt & discoloration, folds, tears, indents, holes, edges curledor bent, minor tears at creases & edges, and some minor soiling as seen inphotos (please see photos).
Pleaseinspect photos carefully & feel free to ask questions. Personally, I think it is morepoignant & meaningful to have one in this condition in the sense to thinkabout how much the document may have survived—possibly on the frontlines. If only it could talk! The ones carried by the “boots on theground” are often folded, soiled, &/or torn due to them being carried byinvasion troops.
