Dodge, P. H. LINCOLN THE POET POEMS BY ABRAHAM LINCOLN. First complete edition. 64 pages. Numerous illustrations. Originally published in 1940. Red cloth, hard back, gold lettering and adhered portrait of Lincoln to the front. This is the Springfield Edition of Lincoln\'s Poems, Limited to 300 Copies and sold exclusively by A. Lincoln Book Shop , 16 N. Mich. Ave., Chicago. What makes this unsual and unique is the Sacred Wood sheet adhered to the paste down front end page. It is a collection of 4 pieces of wood from Lincoln\'s home in Springfield. Number 1 is a sample of oak roof-board presented to the Poet Hunter by Herbert Fay, Keeper of Lincoln\'s tomb at Oakridge in 1943. Number 2 is from the floor-sill. Number 3 is an oak rail split by the rail splitter. Number 4 is a piece of walnut from the Edwards home where Abe courted and married Mary Todd. None of these have been on the market recently. Great association item. Rare!!
