Vintage Sandy Horse

Vintage 1950\'s "SANDY" Coin Operated

100% Restored to New Condition

This is a Vintage 1950\'s "SANDY" Coin Operated Mechanical Horse in 100% restored condition. It operates on 10 cents (dime) and works perfectly. I have restored two of these wonderful rides. The restoration process was long and detailed and the end result shows it. Everything was disassembled down to the bare frame and bead blasted. All of the internal pulleys, bearings, belts and were inspected cleaned and painted before reassembly. The motor was in perfect condition and will last many years. All new wiring was installed. All of the outside body panels are in 100% perfect new condition. This means no rust, dents or even scratches. I sent the aluminum horse off to have it commercially water blasted to protect the aluminum horse and prep for painting. I do automotive painting so I used the best finish on this horse. First I used PPG DPLF epoxy primer on all surfaces. Then for the top coat I used PPG DCC Concept single stage urethane paint. This is the best there is. The real leather saddle is brand new as are the bridle, reins, breast collar and chrome bit. The coin box contains a vintage National Coin 10 cents mechanism that works perfect. The timer is adjustable from 5 seconds to 10 minutes. The box has two keys. The coin chute on top of the box is a chrome plated dime chute. This only will accept a dime (no nickels or quarters). I looked for months to find a company that had these new old stock on hand. The Ride Sandy 10 cents name plates on both sides are the original cast aluminum pieces ( also painted with silver concept paint). The wheel brackets on the front are the original (sandblasted and painted) I was able to find exact matches for the worn old wheels and replaced them with brand new ones.

I could go on and on about this. I restored this earlier this year for my self with no intention of ever selling it. I spared no expense to make it perfect. Well, It\'s time to start clearing out some of my collection. This has been on display in my smoke free house and has never been ridden since the work was completed. This horse is really stunning and would look great in an business, office or game room or even your living room. I am not kidding when I say that this is one of the finest examples of the 1950\'s SANDY horses you will find. If you want just an average old worn sandy horse they are out there and can be had for a grand on up. If you want one that will drop jaws and bring back the nostalgia of going to the Woolworth\'s with your dime to ride the pony here it is.

The horse is located in Panama City Florida which is in the north Florida panhandle south of Tallahassee. Obviously this cannot be shipped USPS, FedEx or UPS. I will do anything within reason to help you get this horse home. I can bolt and strap it to a pallet and then bubble wrap and build a crate around it and deliver it to a trucking company. I might be up for a road trip depending on where you are. These would cost extra but just to cover my costs. Not trying to get rich. If you need help or have questions contact me through email or call me at 850-774-1212. I\'m Mike.

Some Sandy History - Lloyd E. Yetter founded the United Tool & Engineering Co. in Colchester Il and started building these rides in late 1952. The horse was cast aluminum and the base had wood sides and metal end pieces. They originally sold for 750.00. Later in the 1960s they started using a fiberglass cabinet (more square) instead of these classic wood sides and metal rounded ends.
