This is a model 128-3 SINGER Electric sewing machinefrom 1951, patented in 1949, with an 128-13 manual and was manufactured in Canada by THE SINGERMANUFACTURING CO., ST.JOHN’s, P.Q., Canada.


This sewing machine was previously incorrectly listed as a model 128-13.Thanks go to the er that pointed this out to us - much appreciated.)


The machine has a high-gloss black finish. The goldornamentation on the machine is of the “CELTIC SWIRL” style that was used inthe USA in the 1930s and 1940s. It features a low shank and vibrating hook.Uses 15x1 needles.


The 128-3 was described on the‘International Sewing Machine Collectors\' Society’website as “Designedfor operation by foot power and regularly furnished with a treadle stand. Hasspoked balance wheel, thread cutter, needle thread take-up cover. Black japanand bed ornamentation.” Source : style=\"font-size: small; margin: 0in 0in 0pt; line-height: normal;\">

The date of purchase of this offered sewing machine is notknow but a 1951 patent date can be found on the electric lamp fixture. Theoldest patent date that can be found on the main unit is 1949.

  • Rated Overall Condition of Sewing Machine: 09/10 VG (VERY GOOD PLUS) Overall condition of this SewingMachine is very good. Cosmetically the SewingMachine looks excellent. Mechanically the Sewing Machine is sound. However thereis one repair to the corner to the left of the lock on the wooden case cover.

    4. SewingMachine Body, condition of Paint Finish: Excellent.

    5. Conditionof decals: All the decals are inexcellent condition.

    6. Conditionof Serial Number stamp: Excellent

    7. Conditionof Inside of Sewing Machine: Very Good.

    8. Conditionof Sewing Machine Rubber belt: Good

    9. SewingMachine Mechanical Condition: Working.

    10. SewingMachine Electric Motor: Working. Condition Excellent except for metal platethat has the motor rating and part number which is quite scratched. Pleaserefer to photo.

    11. SewingMachine Electric Motor Controller: Working.

    12. AnyRust: No.

    13. Exteriorof Wooden Case Top Cover: Good. However the corner to the left of the lockhas been strengthened using a metal screw. Has a few minor nicks in shellac. Alsohas some dots of white paint. Assume it is from ceiling paint splatter fromwhen someone was painting and did not cover the case. See photo. The rest ofthe case cover as no issues and still has all its four felt pads. There is somelight hazing of the shellac gloss from rubbing that would have occurred whenthe case was opened and closed.

    14. Interiorof Wooden Case Top Cover: Excellentcondition. Very little wear.

    15. Decalon Exterior of Wooden Case Top Cover: Gold “SINGER” decal has a smallnick in the letter “N”, other than that excellent.

    16. Exteriorof Wooden Case Sewing Machine Bed: Good. No repairs visible. There is some light hazing of the shellac glossfrom rubbing that would have occurred when the case was opened and closed.

    17. Interiorof Wooden Case Sewing Machine Bed: Excellent.

    18. WoodenCase Sewing Machine Bed accessories compartment: Excellent. No noticeable scratches on top-side ofpainted metal cover. Bottom of painted metal cover has no the normal were aroundthe fastener from the fastener being turned to release or fastener thecompartment cover.

    19. WoodenCase locking of cover to Sewing Machine Bed: The keyed lock onthe Sewing Machine’s wooden case opens and close easily, but the key ismissing.

    20. CaseHandle: Metal. Very good condition.

    21. SewingMotor controller: Excellent condition.Rubber foot pads like new.

    Boxcontains the following 6 items:

    1 – Singer USA Part number: 160359; Multi Slotted Binder Foot. For low shank machines. Fits in place ofstandard foot.

    1 – SIMANCO, part number: 35931Adjustable Hemmer, This attachment

    fitsin place of the standard presser foot and will make hems from 3/16th to 1”wide. Loosen the thumb screw at the front of the hemmer and move the

    slide tothe right or left until the small pointer is against the desired width; thentighten the screw. Insert the edge of the fabric between the slide and the

    number gauge, and draw it backwards and forwards until the hem is formed. Lowerthe presser bar and start to sew making sure the guide remains full of

    cloth.To make a hem more than 1” wide either remove the thumb screw and slide, orloosen the screw and draw the slide to the right as far as it will go

    and thenturn it towards you. Fold and crease the hem to the desired width, pass thefold under the extension at the right of the hemmer, then insert the

    edge intothe folder and sew.

    1 – SIMANCO, part number: 36865, Edge Stitcher. Fits in place of standard presserfoot. This combined Edge-Stitching, Lace-Joining and Piping attachment must be

    kept accurately on the extreme edge of the material. The slots are guides forsewing together laces, insertions and embroideries, sewing in position hemmedor

    folded edges, piping or sewing flat braid to a garment. The distance of theline of stitching from the edge of the material in the slots, can be regulatedby pushing

    the blue spring lug to the right or the left.
