On Saleis a 1952U.K. first edition / 2nd reprint thus of * The Wind in the Willows*, by Kenneth Grahame, with 12 colour plates plus b&w chapter headpiece decorations by Arthur Rackham, and an introduction by A. A. Milne, published by Methuen & Co., Ltd., London, [first published in the UK with these Rackham illustrations1950] this one states \"First Published in this edition November 23rd 1950 - Reprinted November 1951 - Reprinted 1952\", size approximately 9-1/4 inches x 6-1/4 inches, with 178 pages plus the illustrations.The dark-green cloth-covered hardcover originally with a gilt spine title that is just visible but has faded as the spine has tanned, the cover is bumped and slightly rubbed on the extremities mainly the spine ends, covers well attached, fading to the edges and variably marked, otherwise sound and reasonably tidy (see photo\'s 1 & 5). Inside is complete, page top edges tinted green which has faded, the endpapers are sound and not split, no writing or graffiti and no previous owner\'s name, hinges sound with boards well attached, binding slightly stretched in a couple of places with all pages well attached, pages not torn, a couple of extreme corner tips accidentally bump-turned else corners not turned, slightest age-toning to the free-endpapers and the closed page edges else not tanned, has some pale foxing mostly to the endpapers and to pages adjacent to the plates, occasionally a tiny amount of pale usage soiling, otherwise generally clean and tidy.
