This listing is for a limited edition collector’s plate made by Castleton China in New Castle, Pennsylvania produced to celebrate President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s first birthday in the White House as President on October 14, 1953. Plate measures 10.75” in diameter, new in original box from a smoke free home. The front of the plate: “The President’s First Birthday in the White House” and “14 October 1953” written around a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch Hex symbol of two intertwined doves representing love and peace. There is also a facsimile signature of President Dwight Eisenhower at the bottom of the front of the plate. The lip of the plate is a blue-gray color, the center is a bone china white color, and there are two bands of gold-colored rings around the outer lip and smaller lip of the plate. The back: “Limited Edition” and has the numbers ‘21’ stamped in gold, and ‘68’ stamped in a black color. The plate states that it was “Made Expressively for this occasion by Castleton China, New Castle, Pennsylvania.” The paragraph on the rear of the plate says, “This commemorative plate using the Pennsylvania Dutch symbol of the intertwined doves signifies Love and Peace for which our President firmly stands. Given by the Republican Finance Committee of Pennsylvania as a favor to all those present at President Eisenhower’s Birthday Party held in Hershey, Pennsylvania, 13 October 1953.”
