This sale is for a Snoopy music box made by Schmid Bros in 1969 to commemorate the US manned moon landing. This is a rare find - especially in this condition… and with all the original parts intact.
Snoopy, in his flight outfit, is sitting on top of his flying doghouse which rotates and plays“Fly Me to The Moon”.
Snoopy, the doghouse and base are all made of wood. Snoopy’s wearing a red helmet and googles which looks to be made of felt under his clear plastic flight helmet which is complete - both front and back. There is white plastic tubing hose which goes from his flight suit to the box beside him. He is also wearing a tan ribbon scarf.There are US Flag stickers on both sides of the doghouse as well as on Snoopy’s left shoulder. The bottom is stamped United Features Syndicate, 1969 and has a gold and black sticker - \"Schmid Bros, Inc - Fly Me to the Moon - Made in Japan”
This little guy is a gem - andsure to appeal to music box, Snoopy and Nasa collectors alike.
EXCELLENT CONDITIONThe music box measuresapproximately8” high and 5” in diameter. This old guy is in excellent condition and works great as you can see in the video I took below.There are some minor scuffs and chips to the paint but this piece is solid and has not been broken or repaired.The corners of the Flag stickers have pealed up slightly which is to be expected due to age - as is the slight yellowing to the white paint on the doghouse and base.
