This is an original press photo. Then Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson made friends with a camel cart driver, Bashir Ahmed, in Karachi, Pakistan, in May 1961. Johnson later invited Ahmed to visit the United States. Ahmed accepted and became a local hero after his U.S. visit. Johnson later sent him a pickup to replace his camel, and Ahmed prospered for a time, but lately has been in financial difficulties.Photo measures 7 x 8.75inches. Photo is dated 01-24-1973.
