Excellent Plus/Superbly Perfect Condition--This is a piece titled INDIAN HUNTER, which is an original western bronze sculpture by John Weaver. The Franklin Mint commissioned legendary American West sculptor John Weaver to create a bronze sculpture that was exclusively for established Franklin Mint collectors. This is thefirstWestern bronze three-dimensional sculpture ever offered by the mint. There are many others that followed, but this was the first.
Each Bronze sculpture was cast to order. After the final order was filled in 1975 the case was broken and the limited edition sculpture could never be made again. This sculpture is in perfect condition. Nodefects of any kind, missing parts, scratches, dings or even wear/tear of any type. The only thing different from the day it was purchased is the color aging which I believe has darkened over the decades and the brass plate on the bottom is not shiny anymore as it also reflects 40+ years. I wish I held up this well for 40 years. This super detailed piece portrays a mounted Native American brave at the height of the hunt - at the very moment he releases an arrow at his prey. It shows the typical fine detail the vintage Franklin Mint commissioned pieces were known for and is definitely a lifelike image that is a credit to John Weaver\'s talent. His works are also notable for complete devotion to historical accuracy - which reflects the sculptor\'s lifelong interest in the history and culture of the Plains Indians.
The sculptor\'s plaque is on the bottom which is felt covered. There is a .5 inch section along an edge of the felt that is wrinkled off the metal but I can not even show it in a photo. (I feel I have to put something down signifying wear of some type) The work measures about 10\" tall and 12\" long and weighs (approx) 10 lbs.This sculpture would look great on display on a desk, bookshelf, or any other prominent place in your homeor business. For the guy (or gal) with a Western motif office, this would be a great centerpiece on a shelf with a small light on it. Of course, any room in your home with a similar decor would also be enhanced by this beauty. Several are listed here for $335 to $700 and while book price is that high, reality for me is different. As the mold was broken in 1975, this is it...and as the decades continue to pass, the value will surely go up and I am 100% sure it will not go down, so you are investing the price of this work of art to own it for as long as you like, and then, if you ever decided to, you could always get your money back plus later on. Not many art purchases are like that as most are made from galleries or sales with inflated prices. I am pretty sure this is the lowest priced one of these offered anywhere, and by a large amount. That is why I am confident that you can always resell later on and get your money back plus. Of course, this is something you put on display and will enhance your office, gun room, den or wherever you choose to place this, so it will likely be passed down in your family as it was in mine.
