First Edition BarbieDolls of the World CollectionItalian Italy Barbie1979New in BoxThis is the first edition Italian Barbie from The Dolls of the World Collection (it was not yet named that when this Barbie came out). This Barbie was followed by the England and France Barbie. This was the very first issue in that collection. She has an unusual face mold and I am told that Mattel only used this mold once on the Italian Barbie for this collection. I have never seen her face on any other Barbie I must admit. She is in her pink box from 1979. The box shows some shelf wear and some scratches on the cello on the front but the box is still one of the best I have seen from that year. I owned 3 of these at one time and this is the best box I had. The Barbie inside looks perfect. She is wearing a nice ring, earrings, and plastic on her head. She is tied to the cardboard insert in the box. Her bag with her shoes and hat is sitting on the side of her skirt (see the pic) because the tape is so old and yellow it stopped sticking. Her stand is by her feet. I can see it in the box. Her basket of flowers are still on her arm - they haven’t gone anywhere in all this time. She looks elegant and ready to be displayed. I have never taken her out of the box. It looks as though whoever owned her last never took her out either. These boxes can be opened and the insert can be taken out with damaging the box. Unlike some of the newer boxes these are old fashioned and were not “sealed”. There is a price tag on the top of the box. I will not remove that as it would damage the box. There is some corner wear to the box (I tried to get pics of it) but the box will display very nicely in spite of that. This doll is a must have. I have many of these earlier dolls from this collection and will be listing them in the next few weeks. This is the first though and anyone interested in this collection should definitely think about this beauty! If you have any questions about any item, please feel free to ask. We try our best to send out fur free products but anyone with pets knows a tiny piece of fur might find it’s way into the box. If you are allergic to pets you will need to consider this before offerding.
