VERY UNIQUE/ 19TH CENTURY

OLD PAINT

YELLOWOVER BLACK

This chair was pulled out of an attic of a large 18th century colonialhome located in Maine…. After 50+ years atrest

A wonderful old pillow back Hitchcock side chair circa 1820-40 that wasdecorated with a bright yellow paint at least a 100 years ago

The family no doubt enjoyed using this chair (Probably on a Front Pourch) beforeit was relegated to the attic

exposing it to the dramatic seasonal temperaturechanges that New England attics offer

NOTE: The temperature/ elements of the attic dictated to by Mother Nature created a unique reactionto the paint

It appears that the yellowover black paint had shrunk leaving a colorful Yellow Jacket Bumble Bee like coloration all throughout this chairssurface

CONDITION: The chair is solid, stable and sturdy. The front spindle rung shows nice wear causedfrom placing and resting ones foot

Originally this chair started life with a cannedseat however a Victorian era replacement seat was added

My photographs show the chairs bottom with its caneholes and some old canvas like fabric
