19th C Antique Sterling Snuff Box Repousse Scenic Hand Chased Hallmarked Heavy:

This sale is for a FINE Sterling Silver Snuff Box, Hand Chased with a Pastoral Scene of a Musician with an accordian next to a young lass meeting in the open pasture with a girl tending to her sheep with her staff in hand. The workmanship is Exquisite! The marks on this little gem have me lost as to the maker or country and age. On the top below their feet is the work GERMANY but on the inner rim once the lid is lifted are 2 hallmarks, one being a standing bird similar to an ostrich and the other a letter or number 1 or i (or some mark similar). The word STERLING is also on the inner rim. If any of you experts can help me decipher this, please let me know so I can pass it along. France uses 2 or 3 hallmarks like these, but not sure. This may be an import piece from one countryto another or an early assay country mark which I am not familiar with. Guaranteed Sterling! Anyway, the piece is in Wonderful condition and weighs a hefty 3.03 troy ounces on my digital scale as can be seen in the photos. The box stands 1\" in Height and measures 2 1/4\" x 3\" in its oval form. Area for monogram but no monogram or removal. This is one of those little RARE gems that happen too infrequent anymore as most belong in someones collection. Please watch for other Great ESTATE items I have listed!
