Magnificent 19th Century Miniature Painting on PorcelainDepicting a Battle between Hussars and the Turks
The details in this painting are extraordinary. The expressions, the composition,the depiction of the horses,....this is an exceptionally well executed piece.
The uniforms appear to be Hussar. I believe Russian.Russians and Turks fought many battles and wars in the 18th and 19th centuries.
In excellent condition. On the reverse of the brass mount, one of the \'prongs\' has broken offand there is some metal fatigue with others.The edge of the porcelain is a bit rough.No chips, cracks, or scratches to the porcelain.
This was probably originally mounted in a lid of a box.A presentation box or maybe a humidor.
Porcelain measures 6.5 cm in diameter. Slightly convex.The brass mount is 7.5 cm in diameter.
